  • complications from local spread of gonococcal infection - transluminal spread of N. gonorrhoeae
  • epididymo-orchitis or prostatitis in men
  • pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in women
  • complications from haematogenous dissemination (less than 1% of infections)
