Lobar bronchus (left superior lobe)

The left superior lobe bronchus is a branch of the left principal bronchus beyond the hilum of the left lung within the lung parenchyma. It supplies the left superior lobe and divides into either four of five segmental bronchi; either:

  • apicoposterior segmental bronchus; supplies both apical and posterior bronchopulmonary segments of the left superior lobe

Or, less commonly:

  • apical segmental bronchus; supplies apical bronchopulmonary segment of left superior lobe
  • posterior segmental bronchus; supplies posterior bronchopulmonary segment of left superior lobe

And:

  • anterior segmental bronchus; supplies anterior bronchopulmonary segment
  • superior lingular segmental bronchus; supplies superior lingular bronchopulmonary segment
  • inferior lingular segmental bronchus; supplies inferior lingular bronchopulmonary segment
