Lobar bronchus (left inferior lobe)

The left inferior lobe bronchus is a branch of the left principal bronchus beyond the hilum of the left lung within the lung parenchyma. It supplies the left inferior lobe and divides into five segmental bronchi:

  • apical segmental bronchus; supplies apical bronchopulmonary segment
  • medial basal segmental bronchus; supplies medial basal bronchopulmonary segment
  • anterior basal segmental bronchus; supplies anterior basal bronchopulmonary segment
  • lateral basal segmental bronchus; supplies lateral basal bronchopulmonary segment
  • posterior basal segmental bronchus; supplies posterior basal bronchopulmonary segment
