Candidiasis is commonly superimposed on napkin dermatitis. It causes a bright red rash involving the flexures. Discrete satellite lesions may be present. Oral thrush is common.
Treatment is with nystatin cream or an imidazole cream such as Canesten or Daktarin. Additionally, napkin dermatitis and oral thrush should be treated as required; the latter to prevent re-infection from the gastrointestinal tract.
