  • duodeno-jejunal diverticulae

  • surgical blind loops e.g. after Polya gastrectomy

  • secondary to obstruction:
    • Crohn's disease
    • tumour
    • radiation stricture
    • pseudo-obstruction

  • fistulae:
    • especially small bowel to colon fistulae

  • hypogammaglobulinaemia

  • tropical sprue

  • systemic sclerosis

  • autonomic neuropathy:
    • diabetes

  • achlorhydria:
    • vagotomy
    • drugs
    • autoimmune
    • old age
