Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in women with a history of gestational diabetes

  • a woman with a history of gestational diabetes should have an oral glucose tolerance test 6-12 weeks post-delivery (1,2)
  • there is an increased risk of development of type 2 diabetes in this group of patients (see linked item). Annual fasting glucose levels should be undertaken to screen for development of type 2 diabetes
