  • Non-adherence to therapy is the most comon reason for parathyroid hormone (PTH) concentrations to fail to normalise in patients being given vitamin D for deficiency.
  • If non-adherence is the problem then this be overcome by, for example, giving intermittent high-dose parenteral or oral vitamin D.
