  • there is no cure for BBS and management relies on identifying the syndrome early and dealing with the associated problems. Many individuals with BBS are blind by the age of thirty but many of the other problems such as obesity, diabetes and renal impairment can be managed effectively if identified early. If there are no major congenital defects in the heart, liver and kidney then individuals with BBS can expect to have a normal life span. (1)
