Clinodactyl is probably under-reported as it is often considered a normal variant. Estimates of incidence range from 1 to 20%. It does seem to run in families with an inheritance pattern that is autosomal dominant with variable expressivity and incomplete penetrance. However, both sporadic and cases with a syndromic association are also common.Males are affected more frequently.
The little finger is most commonly affected and in most cases, the individual is affected on both sides.
