  • Lyme disease

    A consideration of the incidence and definition of Lyme disease and differences between UK and USA guidelines. Will also cover: how to classify Lyme disease, differential diagnosis, when to test for Lyme disease and the best treatment for Lyme disease.

  • Weight loss management

    An overview of weight loss principles, types of diet and very-low calorie diets, currently available treatments, principles of surgery and obesity in children.

  • Vaping

    A focus on current guidance on vaping, how to use vaping as part of smoking cessation, general nicotine replacement therapy guidance, current regulations around vaping, potential long-term vaping risks and the problem of underage vaping.

  • Injectables for type 2 diabetes and weight loss

    A review of NICE guidelines and discussion of liraglutide, semaglutide and tirzepatide. A consideration of the pros and cons of treatment, safety profiles and side-effects.

  • Statins and risk of diabetes

    A focused look at the risk of developing diabetes with statin use, including a discussion of those at increased risk and what can be done to reduce the risk.

  • Reducing urine culture tests among care home residents

    Covering the finding of asymptomatic bacteriuria in care home residents, including the appropriate use of urine testing and antibiotics.

  • Recurrent urinary tract infection

    A step-by-step guide to the assessment and management of recurrent urinary tract infections. Exploring self-management and non-antimicrobial options as well as the indications for, and appropriate use of, antibiotics.

  • Mammalian bites

    Looking at the management of mammalian bites in primary care. Exploring the general principles of management, the use of antibiotic prophylaxis and treatment of acute infections. Includes an introduction to helpful resources for assessing the risk of tetanus and rabies.
