Factors increasing growth hormone secretion
The actual release of growth hormone is promoted by growth hormone releasing hormone.
Growth hormone is increased by:
- any deficiency of substrate for energy, ie hypoglycaemia, exercise, fasting
- increases in levels of some amino acids, for example after a protein meal
- glucagon
- stress
- the act of going to sleep
- sex hormones
