Patients at risk of hyponatraemia
The following patients are at an increased risk of developing hyponatraemia:
- post operative patients
- alcoholics
- malnourished patients
- psychiatric polydipsic patients
- the elderly - caused by a combination of chronic disease and concurrent use of certain medication
- hypovolaemic patients
- burns patients
