Differential diagnosis
Cluster headache does not normally present difficulty in diagnosis when the symptoms have been clearly elicited. However, be certain to consider:
- ophthalmoplegic migraine
- a supraclinoid aneurysm
- trigeminal neuralgia
- other trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs) including
- paroxysmal hemicranias
- SUNCT (short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with conjunctival injection and tearing) (1)
