Aetiology of childhood acute pancreatitis
Acute pancreatitis is uncommon in children.
The major causes are:
- trauma
- drugs
- infection
- pancreas divisum
- choledochal cyst
- cystic fibrosis
- Reye's syndrome
Twenty percent of cases are idiopathic.
