Guidance of invasive procedures
Sampling of foetal tissue allows the diagnosis of genetic disease. In order to sample the correct tissue and avoid damage to the foetus, the procedures are done under ultrasound visualisation.
The three common invasive procedures are:
- amniocentesis
- cordocentesis
- chorionic villus sampling
