The signs of right heart failure include:

  • raised JVP:
    • may be functional tricuspid incompetence due to stretched AV ring

  • hepatomegaly with mild jaundice

  • pitting oedema

  • ascites

  • pleural effusion

  • oliguria by day and nocturia:
    • urine is concentrated and albuminuria is common)

  • peripheral cyanosis
