  • the principle indication for digoxin is permanent/ persistent stable atrial fibrillation with a fast ventricular rate
    • optimum resting ventricular rate is generally about 90/minute (1) although this will depend on the nature of the underlying heart disease - for example slower rates may be desirable in mitral stenosis
