Clinical classification
The muscular dystrophies may be classified into common and uncommon types.
The common muscular dystrophies are:
- Duchenne-type, including Becker muscular dystrophy
- facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy
- limb girdle muscular dystrophy
- Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy
The uncommon muscluar dystrophies include:
- distal muscular dystrophy
- oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy
- congenital muscular dystrophy
