The most common of all causes of SIADH is a small cell carcinoma of the lung.

Other neoplasms that may cause SIADH include:

  • carcinomas of the pancreas, duodenum, bladder, prostate ureter
  • thymoma
  • mesothelioma
  • myeloproliferative diseases
  • lymphoma
  • Ewing's sarcoma
  • bronchial carcinoid

It is probably true to say that nearly every sort of tumour may cause SIADH; an obscure exception, which would be irrelevant except that it is beloved of multiple choice setters, is non-metastatic papillary carcinoma of the thyroid.
