Dental emergencies seen by doctors include:

  • dental caries and secondary infections
  • gingivitis
  • wisdom tooth problems
  • pain after dentistry or unsatisfactory filling
  • dental haemorrhage
  • dental trauma
  • dislocation of the temporomandibular joint and
  • jaw fracture

Pain referred to the jaw and teeth may come from other sites in the head and neck, tooth problems elsewhere and heart or chest conditions
