General side effects of calcium channel blockers
- flushing
- headache
- ankle swelling
- verapamil may cause gastrointestinal side-effects, particularly constipation.
Flushing, headache, palpitations and ankle oedema are due to vasodilation, particularly with dihydropyridines (e.g. nifedipine, amlodipine).
