Diabetic autonomic neuropathy
The neurological damage in diabetes tends to affect the parasympathetic arm of the autonomic nervous system, in particular vagal disturbance is a feature, e.g. causing nocturnal diarrhoea.
Other features include:
- postural hypotension
- impotence
- abnormal sweating
- dependent oedema
