The majority of symptoms in rheumatology primarily revolve around joints. Symptoms may be of stiffness, limitation of movement and function or most commonly pain. Symptoms may be localised to a specific joint ie the elbow or to more general areas ie the neck or back.
Other features of rheumatological disease may present initially as a dermatological problem with a rash or cutaneous nodule, whilst some rheumatological conditions may present with more complex symptoms such as cold hands in Raynaud's syndrome, or blurred vision in giant cell arteritis.
