Aetiology of peripheral precocious puberty (pseudoprecocious puberty)
There are many benign forms of pseudoprecocious puberty. However, it is very important to investigate for sinister causes, including:
- adrenal virilising tumours
- congenital adrenal hyperplasia
- testicular malignancy
In this situation the investigator is not expecting a central lesion.
