Results
By 1999 135 patients had been withdrawn because of:
- death
- illness
Of the initial cohort 5 developed oesophageal cancer:
- 2 defaulted from the surveillance program
- 2 presented during the interval between endoscopy appointments
- 1 patient was detected by the surveillance but died post-operatively
The program required:
- 745 endoscopies
- 3000 biopsy specimens
