Foreign body in gastrointestinal tract
The ingestion of foreign bodies is most common in three groups:
- children aged 1-5 years
- patients with psychiatric disease
- prisoners
The vast majority of foreign bodies pass through the gastrointestinal tract without causing symptoms. In the remainder, the complications can be serious, even fatal.
