Pulsion diverticula
Pulsion diverticula of the oesophagus are usually single and located above the diaphragm, proximal to the cardia. Clinically, they may present with dysphagia.
The aetiology is believed to be one of neuromuscular incoordination.
Treatment involves excision coupled with a Heller's type myotomy on the gastro-oesophageal sphincter to reduce pressure proximally.
