Post resuscitation care has the following aims:

  • full consciousness
  • neurologically intact
  • spontaneous respiration
  • stable cardiac rhythm
  • adequate urine output

Favourable indicators include:

  • witnessed arrest
  • ventricular fibrillation
  • successfully converted in 2 to 3 minutes
  • if longer, CPR effective and continuous
