Immediately after resuscitation
Once rhythm is restored, the following steps are valuable:
- laryngoscopy - endotracheal tube position
- ventilation - 100% oxygen - bilateral chest sound monitoring
- arterial pH and CO2
- serum potassium measurement
- chest radiology looking for: - fractured ribs - sternal dislocation - pneumothorax - central line
- urinary catheter
- nasogastric tube
- 12 lead ECG
- Swan-Ganz or arterial line, depending on clinical picture
