Types of calcium channel blockers
There are three classes - dihydropyridines (e.g. nifedipine, amlodipine), phenylalkylamines (verapamil) and benzothiazepines (diltiazem).
The dihydropyridines tend to cause cardiac acceleration, while the others tend to reduce rate (rate - limiting calcium channel blockers).
