  • in England and Wales, approximately 1,200 children aged < 15 years are diagnosed with cancer each year; the rate is approxiately 12 per 100,000 in children < 15 years

  • 1 in 550 - 600 children will be affected by a children's cancer by the age of 15 years old - this is a similar rate for meningitis, diabetes and Down's syndrome in childhood
