Predisposition in the elderly
Constitution: some people are more at risk than others due to impaired thermoregulation - therefore beware recurrence
Low room temperatures: winter, poverty, lack of insulation, no central heating, inadequate clothing
Medical factors: acute illness, chronic disease, immobility and drugs (see aetiology section)
