Angelman syndrome consists of:

  • severe mental retardation without speech
  • microcephaly
  • flat occiput - brachycephaly
  • jerky ataxic movements with broad based gait
  • smiling face
  • gales of inappropriate laughter

Other features include a protruded tongue, and often epilepsy.
