Congenital choreoathetosis accounts for about 10% of all cases of cerebral palsy, and is the characteristic from of cerebral palsy following kernicterus, although it may also follow hypoxia.
This condition is characterised by involuntary movements, usually chorea, athetosis and dystonia of the limbs, trunk, face and bulbar muscles.
