Complications due to reduction in normal immunoglobulins:

  • recurrent infections

Complications due to the paraprotein:

  • renal failure
  • Fanconi's syndrome
  • amyloidosis
  • bleeding disorders due to coating of normal platelets with paraprotein

Complications of skeletal damage:

  • pathological fractures especially of the spine and sternum
  • hypercalcaemia of malignancy
