  • gamma globulin is used for travellers against hepatitis A if vaccination at least two weeks before travel is not possible

  • give in the last few days before travel

  • give at least 2-3 weeks after polio or oral typhoid vaccines

  • does not reduce response to yellow fever vaccine (1)

  • used for visitors to areas where the disease is highly endemic(all countries except northern and western Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand - hepatitis A vaccine is preferred if patient is visiting those countries frequently or who stay for more than 3 months
