Fibula fracture
Traumatic disorders of the fibula include:
- transverse fracture:
- caused by a blow to the lateral side of the lower leg
- caused by a blow to the lateral side of the lower leg
- spiral fracture:
- caused by a twisting strain
- the fibula alone may be fractured, or there may be an associated fracture of the tibia at the ankle (Maisonneuve fracture)
- a fatigue fracture of the distal fibula is seen in long- distance runners
