Angle

Authoring team

The angle of the rib is the point along its shaft at which there is a rapid change in the angulation of curvature. It is sited posteriorly within a few centimetres of the tubercle of the rib.

There is another angle distally - nearer the sternal end of rib 5 and those inferior to it - which is less pronounced and co-incides with the origin of the external oblique muscle.
