Cataract (senile)

Authoring team

This is the most common form of cataract and results from poorly understood biochemical changes in the lens. Some studies suggest an association with increased phospholipid, high non-fasting blood glucose, and increased blood pressure. Many different forms are reported, which may co-exist. The most common types are those in the lens nucleus, the lens cortex, and the posterior subscapule.
