Drug-induced tubulo-interstitial nephritis
Toxins and drugs may cause renal injury by:
- idiosyncratic immunological reactions e.g. methicillin
- acute toxic effects e.g. mercuric chloride
- chronic toxic effects e.g. analgesic abuse
There are two main syndromes of drug-induced tubulo- interstitial nephritis:
- acute drug-induced interstitial nephritis
- analgesic abuse nephropathy
